Many of us have had first hand experiences with children and/or grandchildren as patients at Arkansas Children’s Hospital in Little Rock.  Some of our children spent a day or two, some a few weeks, and others months or years.  We are so lucky as a state to now have three Children’s hospitals across our state.

 

I have chosen as my altruistic project for 2029-2022 the Child Life and Education Department at ACH.  Even sick children need visual, musical, artistic, and literary stimulation during their hospital stays.  My daughter at age 6 and her buddies loved to ride their IV poles to the “play room.”  They so enjoyed being with each other painting pictures, building with block sets, reading and working on the computer.  This setting was more natural to them.  A bright, colorful room just for them.

 

I have set our state goal at $3,000 but of course I hope we can do more. These are uncertain times but as teachers we know that our children are our future.
